The Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat is back this year and along with new releases and technology on display, there is another Surtees/Yamaha Grand Prize to be won.

With a retail value of more than $230,000, the grand prize will definitely be won by one lucky visitor to the show at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane, Auckland from 14 to 17 May.

“Once again, our fantastic Grand Prize partners, Surtees Boats and Yamaha Outboards, along with Hosking Trailers, Garmin, and all the other many supporting sponsors have put together a truly incredible prize package for us to give away,” said Dave Gibbs, the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show’s general manager.

“It will definitely be a true life-changer for the lucky person whose correctly drawn show entry ticket is the first drawn out at the end of the 2020 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show.”

The boat

The 7.5-metre 750 Game Fisher enclosed cabin features a double walk-through transom, with two live bait tanks, double boarding ladders, and an enclosed platform, complete with protective pushpits for safer fishing in offshore waters.

There is also a premium Surtees bait station with twin drawers and four rod holders, Surtees’ new 2020 dash layout, and a sink connected to a 22-litre fresh water tank. There are twin hatches in the cabin roof, slide-through chilly bin stowage and the Surtees SiQ™ technology package.

Designed to improve both stability (at rest and underway) and handling in a wide range of conditions, this includes Anti-Roll™ ballast stability control with Anti-Roll Lock™, Razortech™ smooth riding hull, Tough Deck™ super rigid hull construction, Safety Buoyancy airtight flotation compartments, the Quik-Hitch™ trailer catch system and Surtees’ 10-year hull warranty.

The motor

The source of the power is the F300 – Yamaha’s latest-generation V6 outboard range. The 4.2-litre has four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts, and an innovative in-bank exhaust system that integrates the manifold into the cylinder head.

The boat will also be fitted with other Yamaha technologies, including a ‘drive-by-wire’ electronic throttle for smooth and precise control and the company’s renowned CL7 Command Link Plus instrument control panel.

The trailer

Specially designed and built for the 2020 Grand Prize, the Hosking Trailers custom tandem trailer comes complete with a Trojan Hydrastar Direct Brake system and wireless brake controller. These will allow the lucky winner to simply plug in and go, using any vehicle with a 3500kg towing capacity to safely tow their boat without having to install a hard-wired brake controller.

The electronics

The boat will also come fitted with a comprehensive Garmin marine electronics package featuring everything a boatie will need to safely navigate to and from their favourite offshore fishing spots and quickly and easily locate the reefs, pinnacles, depressions and, of course, fish.

Apart from these features, the boat will have include many extras such as a remote controlled 36-volt Minn Kota electric trolling motor, a Fusion MS-RA770 Apollo marine stereo, SeaDek protective panels, a full Hellamarine LED lighting package throughout, a complete set of Okuma fishing gear (worth more than $5000), and more.

Be in to win

All tickets bought online on boatshow.co.nz will also earn a bonus entry into the grand prize draw and are automatically entered into the draw for a powered Viking Kayaks’ Reload package worth more than $8000.

“Last year’s Surtees/Yamaha Grand Prize winner, Eden Waddington from Christchurch, bought his ticket to the show online and it was his bonus entry ticket that won him the prize,” says Gibbs.

“I urge everyone who is thinking of coming to the 2020 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show to head to boatshow.co.nz now to buy their tickets. They will not only go into the draw for all these amazing prizes, they just might, like Eden, double their chances of winning the stunning Surtees/Yamaha Grand Prize.”
