On 7 May, prime minister Jacinda Ardern revealed details for what New Zealand would look like at Alert Level 2. We are still at Alert Level 3 at least until Monday, 11 May when the cabinet will meet to decide the further course of action. So here’s hoping we move to Level 2, which sees rules relaxed towards anglers and hunters. Find out more about what Level 2 means for hunters and anglers.

In our cover story this issue, F&O’s Tony Orman reports on president of the Marlborough Recreational Fishers Association, Pete Watson’s comment on how fish farming deviates from efficiently managing the natural fishery. We also take a look at the government’s Quota Management System.

While we’re still at Level 3, most of our distributors are not back in business, which means, another digital-only issue. But printing will resume once we’re on Level 2.

We’re keeping a close eye on the different alert levels and how it affects New Zealand’s hunting, fishing, and boating community so stay updated on our website or follow us on Facebook.
