F&O Vol 5 Issue 4

In our latest issue, we meet Craig Pinkney, a fisherman in Northland’s Hokianga Harbour, who has become an early adopter of electric-powered commercial fishing boats in New Zealand.

Based in Kohukohu, fuel accessibility is often a challenge for equipment owners in the area, with Craig’s nearest supplies more than 20km away by road or from Rawene on the opposite side of the harbour. Couple those issues with Craig’s commitment to environmental stewardship and it’s easy to see why he decided to electrify his primary fishing boat.

We catch up with him to find out more about what may be NZ’s first electric-powered commercial fishing boat.
